When you find yourself basically having no control over your habitual exercises, then we say that you are addicted to those activities. For instance, I attend the gym on a daily basis where I perform exercises for chest, abs and run on the fast track. However, two days or more I have missed those gym sessions and I must confess that this propounded a new revelation little known to me. I am addicted to exercising. I took it positively and tried to minimize my daily work outs which turned me to whom I am today.
Addiction is a gradual process which triggers psychological dependence in your body yielding to some intense craving to the substance or a certain activity. It is a continued repetition of a behavior despite adverse or extreme consequences or a neurological impairment leading to such behaviors.
Alluding to my case where missing the gym session for two days yielded to absolute body discomfort and muscle irritations forms a perfect case study of an addiction victim. Addictions can include but are not limited to, drug abuse, exercise addiction, food addiction, sexual and computer addiction. More or less, gambling which is little known to most people is an extreme form of addiction. It’s even worse compared to other cases of addiction.
Classic hallmarks of addiction include impaired control over substances or behavior, pre occupation with substance or behavior, continued use despite consequences and denial. No one in the addiction sphere accepts his current status of addiction. They live in self denial which makes them assume that everything is progressing with normalcy.
Physiological dependence occurs when the body has to adjust to the substance by incorporating the substance into its normal functioning. This state creates the conditions of tolerance and withdrawal. Tolerance is the process by which the body continually adapts to the substance and requires increasingly larger amounts to achieve its normal effects. Withdrawal on the extreme refers to physical and psychological symptoms experienced when reducing or discontinuing a substance that the body has become dependent on.
Withdrawal when viewed closely seeks to establish the reaction with which the body reacts to abstaining from an addictive substance of which it has become dependent and tolerant.
Addiction is not thing to dismiss off t your first thought. It’s as well as your death track which leads you to your six feet deep eternal rest.
Therefore, before you think on invading a certain drug or hazardous exercise, think first about your life and the people who look upon you as their moral pace setter.
